The Well is a community-centered recreation facility serving residents of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels. As a public center, our fitness spaces are shared environments designed to be welcoming, safe, inclusive, and accessible. Every member and guest plays a vital role in maintaining a culture of respect, personal responsibility, and consideration for others. Respectful behavior toward fellow participants, instructors, and staff is expected at all times.
Access to fitness areas promotes safety and appropriate supervision. Youth age 10 and under are not permitted on the Cardio Floor, Strength Floor, or Turf areas. Youth age 11 may access these areas only with adult supervision after completing the Youth Fitness Readiness Check and must wear a yellow wristband. Youth ages 12–13 require adult supervision and a blue wristband. Youth ages 14–17 may use fitness areas independently with an orange wristband. Wristbands must remain visible, and the City reserves the right to verify age and enforce supervision requirements.
All participants must wear appropriate athletic attire. Closed-toe athletic shoes are required, and Crocs are not permitted on cardio equipment. Equipment must be used safely, with control, and as intended. Slamming, dropping, or misusing equipment is prohibited. Free weights must be re-racked after use, and equipment and benches are for active use only. Members and guests should only occupy equipment while actively using it. If you need an extended break between sets or to rest, please allow others to work in. Cardio equipment automatically resets after 60 minutes. While there is no strict time limit, members should be mindful of others waiting, especially during peak hours, to ensure fair access for all.
Cleanliness and shared responsibility are essential in a community facility. Equipment must be wiped down after use, and personal belongings should be stored in lockers or designated cubbies. Large bags are not permitted in workout areas. The City of Hilliard is not responsible or liable for lost or stolen items left unattended. Food, gum, open containers, and chalk are prohibited. Personal audio devices may be used with headphones only; personal speakers are not allowed. Conversation and noise levels should remain respectful. Large group gatherings on fitness floors or the track are not permitted to keep spaces open and accessible for all members.
The Indoor Track is a shared, multi-use space. Walkers should stay in the inside lanes, joggers in the outside lanes, and sprinting is not permitted. Strollers may be used safely and considerately. Standing or loitering on the track is not allowed at any time, including during gym program hours, even to observe activities. Children must always be supervised while on the track. During designated Hilliard Social Center walking times (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30–9:30 a.m.), walking-only use is permitted. Youth access follows the facility’s supervision guidelines.
The Studio hosts structured group fitness classes and open-use times. Group fitness classes require registration through Hilliard Recreation and Parks. Drop-in participation may be allowed for Well Member Fitness classes, subject to space availability. Participants must arrive on time, follow the instructor’s guidance, and adhere to safe and respectful behavior. During open studio use, participants must share space, use equipment as intended, and return it to proper storage. Personal equipment may not be stored in studio closets.
The Well offers three main fitness formats:
All instructors and trainers hold current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications and maintain nationally accredited credentials.

Fitness spaces serve individuals of all ages, abilities, and experience levels. Behavior that creates an unsafe, intimidating, or disruptive environment is prohibited. Equipment must be used safely and returned to proper storage. Aggressive or disruptive behavior, including but not limited to spitting, yelling, profanity, harassment, or invading personal space, is not allowed. Failure to comply with policies or staff direction may result in removal from the facility or program without refund and may lead to suspension of privileges. Fitness Instructors and Trainers receive the right to remove any person from a program or class whose behavior is deemed unacceptable based on this code of conduct.
Training services are provided exclusively through City-approved trainers. Outside training for compensation, direct or indirect, is prohibited on Recreation and Parks property.
