Hilliard’s Adopt-A-Park program invites individuals, businesses, and groups to support park beautification through donations or hands-on volunteer work.
The City of Hilliard’s Adopt-A-Park program offers two ways for individuals, local businesses and groups to take an active role in the beautification and maintenance of our community’s growing park system.
Commemorative donations may be made to recognize those who have made an impact on the Hilliard community or to celebrate a special occasion or life of a loved one. You may request to support a specific park or purchase a park amenity in accordance with Hilliard’s public space design standards. When possible, a recognition plaque will be affixed to or near the amenity.
Park Volunteer Sponsorships allow businesses or groups to assist with basic year-round mulching, weeding, small-scale gardening, painting and other activities. The City will help you choose a role that is most needed and also the best way to recognize your volunteers. As part of the program, the city may provide your group with these items:
Trash bags & gloves.
A personalized sign identifying your efforts at the adopted park location.
Acknowledgment of your group/ agency on the City’s website and Recreation and Parks Department Activity Brochure as a member of the Adopt-A-Park program.
Please follow these guidelines to help us provide you with a safe and organized experience:
Time Commitment – Improvement sponsorships require an application and a one-year commitment. You must also visit your assigned park a minimum of four times per year, with emphasis during the spring and fall.
Pre-notification– Once approved, you must provide the Recreation and Parks Department 5 days notice before each work session. That will let us confirm work date(s), outline a work agenda and supply needed materials. Date requests may be deferred or altered to work around other park events or maintenance programs.
Youth Supervision – Groups must provide one (1) adult supervisor, 18 years or older, for every five youth ages 10 to 17 years old. Hilliard Recreation and Parks Department cannot provide supervision.
Cancellation – You must inform the Recreation and Parks Department in writing if you and/or your group are unable to keep your adoption commitment for any reason. That release will allow us to reassign your spot to another group.
Complete the application.
Submit volunteer liability waiver forms by each volunteer prior to the scheduled work date. Forms for volunteers under the age of 18 must include parent/guardian signatures.
Submit completed materials to the Hilliard Recreation and Parks Department at the address below.
